The Wales international suffered multiple injuries during the 2016/17 season, and this restricted him to just 27 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the biggest disappointment for him would have been to miss a starting role in the Champions League football where Isco was preferred on the right side of the attack.
Isco worked his socks off during the backend of the season and manager Zinedine Zidane had no choice but to start him owing to his workrate displayed during Bale’s injury absence.
