MADRID DEFEAT STADE DE REIMS 5-3

Welsh play maker Gareth Bale returned to action for Real Madrid as the Spanish giant completed their pre season preparations with a 5-3 win over French outfit Stade de Reims. The eight goal thriller was played at Santiago Bernabeu, with Madrid’s attack in full force.

Bale last featured for his club 42 days ago when he was at the centre of the action for Wales at the Euro 2016 played in France. He was the most impressive in the group for his country, scoring in every group stage game.

Wales produced a stunning effort to defeat a star-studded Belgian team to qualify for the semi final before crashing to Portugal. Bale, who just lost his ‘world most expensive player’ status to Paul Pogba when he agreed to return to Old Trafford after joining Juventus four years ago, joined Toni Kroos, Alvaro Morata and others in attack.

The match was as exciting as playing on the machines at an online casino, with goals flying in left, right and centre, and keeping fans guessing all the way to full-time. It was Real Madrid who (predictably) came out on top once the 90 minutes were up.

Pablo Chavarria scored the opener for the French team but Madrid responded swiftly. Kroos sent a corner kick in the 11th minute, and Nacho jumped high to get the equalizer. Kroos was clearly the dictator of the pace of the game. He is the same person that sent the ball from a set-piece that allowed Sergio Ramos convert, sending Madrid ahead in the 39th minute. Alvaro Morata got his first goal since joining from Juventus when Real activated their buy-back clause.

The game with the Ligue 2 side was in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the cub’s meeting in a European Cup final.  Madrid won the game 5-3. Remi Oudin scored immediately after the 15 minutes break to make it 3-2. Columbian skipper James Rodriguez scored, restoring Madrid’s two goal advantage. Reims who were unbeaten in three games this term fought hard to add another goal through Grejohn Kyei. His effort forced a response from Madrid with substitute Mariano getting the fifth. Madrid will begin their La Liga campaign this Sunday when they play Real Sociedad.
