Gareth Bale scored in his Third Straight Final

Gareth Bale scored in his third consecutive final after helping Real Madrid lift the Club World Cup in Morocco. This was seen as the ultimate prize for this Madrid team that lifted the Copa del Rey and the Champions League last season.

Bale scored in both these matches, as he managed to show that he was worthy of the world record transfer fee of £ 85 million that was paid to Tottenham for his services. He has continued on his scoring spree after getting the second goal against San Lorenzo in the final. His goal came after defender Sergio Ramos put the favourites ahead in the first half.

Incidentally, Ramos scored in both legs of the semifinals and the final of the Champions League.

This victory will see Madrid don the title of the best club team in the world for the next 12 months. Bale says that this trophy clearly shows that Madrid are a cut above the rest of the teams in European and indeed football. Madrid have also lifted the European Super Cup earlier in the campaign by beating Spanish outfit Sevilla. Bale, though, has not shone in the league in similar fashion and there have been transfer rumours linking him with a return to English football with Manchester United.

“For us it’s a massive tournament to win and to show we’re the best team in the world is amazing. It’s been a great year all round. Winning the Champions League, winning the Super Cup, winning the Copa del Rey and now this, it’s been a great year and hopefully there’s more to come. We need to keep concentrating on each and every game and hopefully we’ll achieve what we know we can,” said Bale. Madrid will be looking to defend the Champions League when they face Schalke in the last 16 in February.
